[ARCHIVED] Interchange Demolition Delayed

Demolition Announced for I-496/US-127 Interchange at Trowbridge Road

24-064

April 19, 2024

EAST LANSING, Mich. — The I-496/US-127 interchange at Trowbridge Road will be completely demolished on Monday, April 22 as part of the Michigan Department of Transportation’s (MDOT) effort to rebuild this stretch of freeway from I-96 to I-496.

The work will begin at 6 a.m., Monday, April 22 and will likely conclude at 6 a.m., Tuesday, April 23. The demolition work will require closing the eastbound I-496 and southbound US-127 ramps to Trowbridge Road.

Community members are urged to follow the posted detour. Motorists should expect delays and are advised to seek alternate routes.

According to MDOT, the rebuilding project’s purpose is to improve traffic safety through redesign and reconstruction and enhance vehicular movement. In addition, this work is expected to upgrade and rebuild bridges through this segment and update drainage, signs and pavement markings in Ingham County.
